LEARN HOW TO
LAND MORE COMMERCIALS

…FROM THE CASTING SESSION DIRECTOR!

~ BRETT HEARD ~

Next class
~ SATURDAY OCTOBER 27th ~ 10:00AM

Whether you’re breaking into the business, trying to hone your skills in the audition room, or looking for that little inside knowledge that will help you book jobs immediately, this class is for you.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING…

“My clients have all seen considerable improvements resulting in a number of recalls and bookings immediately after taking
your class. It’s pretty remarkable. I would insist to anyone who is seriously considering a career in this industry to take your
audition workshop. As one client said, “It really helped to demystify the whole process”.

Morgan Flood -Agent
Diamondfield Entertainment

“It would be rare, if ever, that you would find someone with as much varied industry experience and successful track record as
Brett Heard.”

Michael Stevenson – Casting Director C.D.C

“Your workshop was really helpful! I booked the second audition I went to since! I'm forcibly recommending it to everyone I
meet who is new to the audition circuit or is banging their head against the wall.”

Mike Sheer -Actor

“I loved this! I would like to make your teachings an every month endeavor for my clients because I want as many people to
subscribe to this way of thinking about their careers as possible.”

Perrin Forward -Commercial Agent
The Talent House

“The lessons were invaluable! I’ve been auditioning for almost 20 years and this was the first time someone told me what was
actually going on in the room. I’ve been auditioning blindly all this time. I now have the tools to be a successful ‘auditioner’.
Thank you!”

Steve Levine -Actor

Class will include:
~ How to make a good first impression. ~ Do’s and don’ts of the audition process.
~ Understanding what they are looking for.
~ How to improve your chances of booking the job. ~ Understanding the process.
~ How to push your career to the next level.

Cost -$159.00 (Includes GST)

Ahhh! a fountain course

LS3 is finally teaching the much waded for water fountain course. Luc is anxious to get this course on the way. Far too many requests made for it to go ignored. Luc is treading on new grounds as he uses technology to make his sculpture speak through moving sound. In his 2005 ‘Still Motion’ exhibit his sculptures were moving mutes, so why not give clay the tools to speak. Now he is provoking us to listen to the sound of clay –it now has a voice, it has song, it speaks. At LS3 we are constantly evolving so like Plato says everything evolves therefore nothing is true. Water carries with it many messages of healing, modification, aural cleansing –it silences the spirit by putting negativity to rest. Restore yourself to health with this NEW Water Fountain Course. A baptismal will be but one of its rewards.

Coming up mid-October…

So stay tuned!

So if you’ve been yearning for that same type of tongue twisting evening come and join in every Wednesday between 6-8pm. Now only in its 8th week and yet Lee has already had many nee francophone speakers join in on the sessions. Art Courses by

Susanne  Tevlin

Hello Art Lovers,
There are still a few spots left in both these May courses. I'll be in Paris
speaking at Parsons-Paris the last week of April so if you're interested in
either of these let me know soon, before I leave for Pariii, actually, so
you have just over 2 weeks to decide and confirm your decision with a
cheque.

Don't forget to check out my website -  www.suzannetevlin.com

ROMANTICISM

Delve into the darkness of what truly is Romanticism in all its' extremes of
passion, exoticism, colour and poetry. The Art of Romanticism has little to
do with our modern ideas of romance, and even less to do with hearts and
flowers. Rather, Romanticism is the naked soul of the Artist exposed in all
its' richness and disturbing splendor, for us to see. Romanticism is the
confessional of the seeker, with emotions beyond his ability to control.
Witness Gericault as he visits charnel houses and rides himself to death and
empathise  with Delacroix as he seeks to overcome his shadowy paternity
through Art.

1)THE RISE OF ROMANTICISM: INGRES, DAVID & GROSS
2)THE NIGHTMARE SCENARIO: FUSELI & BLAKE
3)THE DEAF MAN'S HOUSE: GOYA
4)BLOODLESS VIOLENCE: GERICAULT & DELACROIX
5)LANDSCAPE & ROMANTICISM: JOHN CONSTABLE
6)TURNER, GOETHE & THE POETS

INSTRUCTOR: Suzanne Tevlin, AOCA

LEARNER OUTCOMES: Students will not only discover new ways af looking at art
from
these artist lead talks, but will also develop a new empathy for the
"creative" at work from
listening to a practicing artist mull over the difficulties and decisions
involved in the act of creation
and the art of living as an artist.

ROMANTICISM will be held at my studio wednesday evenings, from 7pm 'till
9pm, May 3rd to June 7.
The cost will be $295 for the 12 hour course with a LLL of $280.
This course will be limited to six participants.

ART & PRACTICE

This exciting new course creates a true appreciation of the Artist's world
by combining the best of Art History with actual practice in the artist's
studio.  Evenings of lectures on the History of Art will alternate with
evenings of art making. One of the best ways to understand Art is to try it
yourself.....  this develops both your analytical and intuitive sides and
will lead you to a fundamental realisation of what Art is all about.

1) Impressionism: Renoir & Monet
2) Impressionism studio: chalk pastel on paper
3) Post Impressionism: Gauguin & Van Gogh
4) Colour field painting studio: acrylic on paper
5) Cubism: Picasso & Braque
6) Cubism studio: collage & ink on paper

INSTRUCTOR: Suzanne Tevlin, AOCA

LEARNER OUTCOMES: Students will not only discover new ways af looking at art
from these artist
lead talks, but will also develop a new empathy for the "creative" at work
when they try doing it themselves.

ART & PRACTICE will be held at my studio thursdays, from 7pm 'till 9pm, May
4th to June 8th.
The cost will be $295 for the 12 hour course with a LLL of $280.
This course will be limited to six participants.
The art supplies used during the three studio evenings will be included in
the course fee.

Dear Parents & Friends

We at W.E.S.T. would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your best wishes and support throughout the previous year, as well as to remind you of some up-coming events and introduce some exciting new classes.

Spring & Summer Classes

In addition to our popular vocal, stage and film acting workshops, we are excited to introduce two new classes.  The IMPROV experience is a class (one for teens and one for adults) that is designed to build confidence, thinking on your feet, exploring emotions and discovering your own personal acting style.
All you yet-to-be discovered actors that are between the ages of 3 to 5, now have a place to become a star.  CREATIVE DRAMA ON MY OWN is a Saturday morning class where kids develop their social skills through games, storytelling, dress-up pretend time and puppetry.  We are currently taking registrations for all spring workshops which begin the week of March the 21st.
Due to high demand, we have officially started to accept registrations for our SUMMER DRAMA CAMPS.  Returning students should note that spaces are already filling quickly, so if interested, please register early to avoid disappointment.  In addition to our popular full day camp, this year we are introducing a separate HALF DAY CAMP for 5 and 6 year olds from 9:00am to noon.  For further information regarding our many classes and camps or to register, please feel free to telephone or contact us through our website.

Upcoming Productions

We would also like to take this opportunity to announce our first in-studio production of "FAITH HEALER" by Brian Friel.  The story is based on an itinerant Irish faith healer who is trying to come to terms with his "gift" for healing and his inability to heal himself.  The production is co-produced with Act of Faith Productions and will run April 7,8&9th at 8:00pm.  For ticket information, please contact W.E.S.T. at (905) 845-9378.

W.E.S.T. is very excited to once again stage our annual ONE ACT FESTIVAL. This week- long event is filled with the very best of what theatre has to offer including original works, laugh-out-loud comedies and intense dramas. If you are an aspiring writer with a play, a director with a vision or an actor with a sense of adventure, there's plenty of opportunity to get involved.  The festival runs from Wednesday May the 25th through to Saturday the 28th with shows starting at 7:30pm.  Those of you interested in getting involved, or looking for ticket information, please contact Yo or Jeff at the studio.

W.E.S.T. is gearing up for the 05/06 Oakville Drama Series with a production of the hilarious "BEDROOM FARCE" by Alan Ayckbourn.  AUDITIONS will be held Sunday May the 29th and Monday the 30th.  Please call the studio for audition requirements or to schedule a time.

Note:  We apologize to anybody who's received a duplicate copy of this newsletter.  This will not happen in the future.

Thank you!

A word from Actra

Reality Check

Many people begin careers in performance for the wrong reasons. They think acting is a glamorous business where someone with little or no experience can make a lot of money with very little effort. Well, it's not that easy. Working as an actor is a challenging profession that requires discipline, commitment, continuous training and lots of hard work.

Performers have to work hard each and every day. They compete against their fellow performers for every role and know there is no such thing as a guaranteed part. Most have years of experience in the performing arts and have trained at top theatre schools. Their work experience can include everything from plays and television series to commercials and feature films.

Considering a career in the performing arts should not be a whim or passing fancy. Bringing a character to life on the screen can give you great joy and personal satisfaction - but it also entails personal sacrifices. You will succeed only if you are serious about being a performer and are dedicated to your profession.
